EPC empowers youth across the globe to lead meaningful environmental change through research, innovation, and action. By uniting education, community projects, and partnerships with leaders, we are building a more sustainable future worldwide.
Impact in Africa

One EPC student identified a critical tree-related issue in Africa, where deforestation and soil degradation was rapidly damaging local ecosystems and as a result, affecting nearby communities. With guidance from EPC mentors, the student developed an innovative, sustainable solution aimed at restoring forests and preventing soil degradation.
The project was later presented at an EPC competition, where it stood out among several strong entries and won first place. The student received $1,000 in funding to bring their idea to life. Soon after, EPC aimed to expand and implement the initiative on a larger scale.

Together, they helped launch a reforestation campaign that resulted in the planting of 1,000 trees in Africa, directly addressing the deforestation crisis. This project not only strengthened local environments but also showcased the power of youth-led innovation.
Today, the initiative remains one of EPC’s most inspiring success stories – proving that with mentorship, creativity, and collaboration, students can create meaningful global change.
Sustainability in Telangana, India
EPC reached out to the Transport Commissioner of the Department of Transportation, Krishnamaneni Paparao, in Karimnagar, Telangana, to present sustainable initiatives for a local public park aimed at reducing its carbon footprint. Prior to implementing these proposals, EPC coordinated a series of park cleanups to restore the area and engage the local community in environmental stewardship.
Following these efforts, EPC’s sustainability plan – developed in partnership with the Department of Transportation Commissioner Krishnamaneni Paparao and EPC’s dedicated sponsors – was fully completed by Fall 2024. The plan included the installation of bike locks to promote eco-friendly transportation, recycling stations and composting areas to reduce waste, and additional trash bins to prevent overflow and littering. The composting areas helped convert organic waste into nutrient-rich soil, supporting local plant growth and reducing methane emissions from landfills. Additionally, EPC partnered with Dr. Puppala Srinivas, the current Department of Transportation Commissioner and with the park to host youth sustainability workshops, educating young community members on practical ways to protect the environment and live more sustainably.

Current Pitch for the Future in Telangana, India
EPC is now working with Dr. Puppala Srinivas to implement practical and energy-efficient upgrades to improve the park’s sustainability and reduce resource use. These included solar-powered benches with charging ports for visitors, automatic lighting controls that adjust based on motion and daylight, and rainwater harvesting tanks with basic filtration to conserve water for landscape maintenance. To address the park’s issue of overflowing trash bins, weight sensors were proposed for trash cans to help optimize collection schedules and keep the park cleaner and more efficient.
